Itinerary

Day 1

ACCRA – TAMALE – LARABANGA

Transfer to the Kotoka International Airport by The Chariot staff for your morning flight to Tamale after being picked up from your location. Upon arrival up North – Tamale, meet and assist by a representative of The Chariot. Brief introduction on board. Welcome drink and water on arrival and orientation shortly after.

Your tour of the Northern Region starts passing through the beautiful city of Tamale to Larabanga. Upon arrival visit the Larabanga Ancient Mosque – the first mosque built in the whole of West Africa. Discover one of Ghana’s most revered religious sites; historic mosque of the “Sudanese” architectural mosque type in the Larabanga village. Continue to visit the Larabanga Mystic Stone nearby. The fascination Mystic Stone possesses a story of the stone which had been in the way of a road, and every time they moved it, it came back to its original position. It was taken progressively further away, and always came back, eventually the road had to be diverted to go around it.

Transfer to your safari resort. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2

MOLE – WECHIAU – MOLE

The journey begins! Leave Mole after your breakfast to the Upper West Region for a scenic view passing by towns such as Grupe, Sawla and Nakwabi. Arrive Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary (WCHS) created to protect one of the last remaining hippo populations in Ghana. Proceed for a sensational canoe ride viewing experience on the Black Volta. The bloat of hippos is mostly gathered in groups at one side of the river.

The best time for a perfect viewing is during the dry season in Ghana (Jan – March/April). The hippos enjoy the tranquility around, hence, careful with noise. You can whisper, take videos and share some kodak moments! – You are just a few minutes away from Burkina Faso, Ghana’s border country to the North.

Discover the section of the local community to learn about the local Wala, Birifor (Lobi) tribal life and customs.

Journey back to the Mole National Park. Dinner and overnight at Zaina Lodge.

Day 3

MOLE – TAMALE - ACCRA

Experience an early morning safari in the Mole Park to see buffalos, antelopes, warthogs, hyenas, red-flanked duikers, hartebeests and other species of mammals like the elephants. The safari vehicle is the best experience riding through the park to see more animals. And one can disembark at a point to see the animals more closely.

Enjoy your breakfast, check out of your resort and head for the airport back to Accra. En route, spend some time on last minute shopping if time permits.

Depart for Accra and drop off at your location.
