Itinerary

Day 1

ARRIVAL NAMIBIA

Arrive in Windhoek, Namibia. Meet and assist by a Chariot Representative. Transfer to hotel on private air-conditioned basis. Brief introduction on board. Check in and overnight at your hotel.

Day 2

SPITZKOPPE ROCK FORMATIONS

After breakfast, the first day of your tour of Namibia takes you to Swakopmund to the impressive site of the Spitzkoppe rock formations, which are massive granite towers that rise greatly out of the surrounding Namib Desert. The region also features many surviving depictions of San rock art.

Transfer and overnight at your hotel.

We will board a ferryboat to the Gorée Island. The island carries the heavy burden of 300 years slave trading in West Africa. Visit the auction block, the ethnographic Museum, the fort and interact with the inhabitants.

Transfer and overnight at your hotel.

Day 3

BRANBERG MOUNTAINS | WHITE LADY PAINTING

Explore Brandberg Mountains, which means ‘Burning Mountains’ due to the fiery colors that emanate from them at sunset. These are the highest mountains in the country; they are also home to a collection of thousands of rock art paintings. The most well-known of these is the depiction of the White Lady, a 45cm-high illustration of a ritual/warrior scene. This fascinating site is reached via a long hike along a riverbed (please note that the hike can be strenuous at times). Depart for Kamanjab.

Day 4

ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, you will have a safari experience at the Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s premier game reserves. It is known for a distinctive feature – a massive salt pan that is found in the middle of the park which is so big that it can be seen from space.

The salt pan, as well as the smaller ones surrounding and adjoining it, attracts wildlife to its banks in numbers. We explore this unique wilderness on an afternoon game drive.

Day 5

KALAHARI DESERT

Check out and depart Namibia for the Kalahari Desert in Botswana. The Kalahari is broad and stretches over Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa. Continue to visit the small town of Ghanzi. Embark on a guided walk, as well as an evening of entertainment featuring tribal singing, dancing, and storytelling where you will enjoy a San cultural experience.

Day 6

MOREMI GAME RESERVE AREA

Today we head to one of Africa’s most spectacular natural places – the Okavango Delta. It is formed where the Okavango River flows into the Kalahari Desert. This forms an inland delta made up of grasslands, swamps, and wetlands that are home to an astonishing diversity of life. We’ll leave early for Maun, the gateway to the Delta, and on arrival have the option to take a scenic flight over the Delta (subject to weather conditions and available time). You’ll then leave the truck and travel with a local guide on smaller safari type vehicles to the Greater Moremi Game Reserve area. The evening will include a briefing on what to expect on tomorrow’s mokoro excursion and game drive.

Day 7

SAVUTI GAME RESERVE

Spend today on a game safari through the unique Savuti Game Reserve. Bordered by the Okavango Delta to the west, and Chobe National Park to the west, Savuti is renowned for having one of the largest concentrations of wildlife in Southern Africa, and for being a great place to view big game. The reserve includes habitats ranging from wetlands and open water to grasslands and Savannah woodlands, and we’ll aim to see as many different species as possible.
Continue to the banks of the Chobe River and be reunited with our truck in the town of Kasane.

Day 8

CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

Those who have chosen to take the optional game drive in Chobe National Park will start early for their morning safari in open 4×4 vehicles. They’ll return to camp for lunch before we all head out in the afternoon for a leisurely boat cruise which should afford us great views of some of the many elephants that make this park home (Chobe has some of the highest concentrations of African elephant on the planet).

Day 9

VICTORIA FALLS

We leave today for the dazzling Victoria Falls after breakfast today. The Victoria Falls are formed at the point where the Zambezi tumbles down over 100m-high basalt cliffs into the gaping ravine below. Simply marveling at the raw force and power of the Falls is enough to keep you occupied for the day, but you may also choose to visit the shops and restaurants of Victoria Falls Town, or to try one of the many adventure activities on offer.

Day 10

DEPARTURE

After a hearty breakfast, enjoy your day at leisure while relaxing for your spa session (on your own account) or your guide and driver will be available for your last-minute shopping plans.

You will be transferred to the airport on time for your onward flight.
