Day 1

BIEVENUE (WELCOME) | ARRIVAL SENEGAL

Arrive in Dakar, Senegal. Meet and assist by a Chariot Representative. Transfer to hotel on private air-conditioned basis. Brief introduction on board. Check in and overnight at your hotel.

Day 2

DAKAR – GORÉE ISLAND – DAKAR

Your tour of Senegal begins today with a full day city tour and a visit to the Gorée Island after breakfast. The drive through the city will take you to the Marché Tilène Tilen market famous for its medicinal herbs and traditional healers. Make a quick stop at the President’s Palace and the Parliament House. And continue to visit the Cheikh Anta Diop University the oldest University and first University in Senegal. Wiitness a scenic view of Medina district from here.

We will board a ferryboat to the Gorée Island. The island carries the heavy burden of 300 years slave trading in West Africa. Visit the auction block, the ethnographic Museum, the fort and interact with the inhabitants.

Day 3

DAKAR CITY TOUR | DAK’ ART FESTIVAL

After breakfast, you will embark on a Dakar City Tour. Begins with a visit to the Grand Mosque of Dakar and Museum of Black Civilization.

Continue to the African Renaissance Monument. The Monument erected in 2010 stands as the tallest statue in Africa today. The sculpture of the man, woman and child symbolizes the continent’s greatness, durability and stability after centuries of imprisonment.

Late afternoon and the rest of your evening will be spent at the Dak’ Art event display, exhibition while enjoying some live music and participating in some dance sessions.

Day 4

DAKAR – THIÈS – SAINT LOUIS

Today, after breakfast and checkout, we leave for the beautiful city of Saint Louis with a stopover in Thiès for lunch. As the pride of Senegal noted for beautiful baskets hand woven by local artisans, your tour guide will assist you to practice your bargaining skills while you purchase some baskets and other items which can serve as perfect souvenirs for family and friends back home.

Arrive St. Louis late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 5

SAINT LOUIS - RAO

Enjoy a scenic ride to Rao after breakfast. Upon arrival engage in revenue generating activities including farming.

Transfer, dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 6

SAINT LOUIS | TOUBY - SALY

Depart for Saly after breakfast with a stopover at Touby enroute.

Transfer, dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 7

SALY

Enjoy your morning after breakfast exploring Saly. Transfer to your hotel to freshen up and have dinner. Prepare and enjoy your first evening at the Jazz Festival.

Day 8

SALY – JOAL - FADLOUTH – SALY

Today you will learn more about the history of Senegal. Depart for the island of Fadlouth after brekafast. Stopover at Joal enroute to learn more about the first President of Senegal, Leopold Sedar Senghor. Continue to discover the island of Fadlouth. On your return to Saly, visit Mbour which attracts many visitors worldwide famous for their booming tourism, fishing port and peanut processing industries.

Transfer to Saly to refresh and have dinner before your evening relaxation at the Jazz Festival.

Day 9

DAY AT LEISURE | JAZZ FESTIVAL

After the breakfast, spend your day at leisure and prepare for the jazz festival in the evening.

Day 10

SALY - LAKE RETBA (PINK LAKE – LAC ROSE) - DAKAR (DEPARTURE)

After a hearty breakfast, we depart Saly for Dakar. Enroute, visit the Lake Retba, also known as the “Pink Lake” located northeast of Dakar.  This lake is considered as distinctive as it boasts as one of the rarest natural lakes in the world. The lakes pinkish hue is as a result of the excessive amount of Dunaliella salina algae in the water that produce a red pigment used to absorb light, which in turn then provides the algae with life-energy.  The pink color is particularly visible during the dry season. The lake is also known for its abundantly high salt content.  Today you will meet the “salt harvesters” with their colorful tackle, and interact with the Fulani ethnic groups living in the surrounding villages.

Continue to Dakar and prepare for your onward flight home.
